French company requests to build silos in Damietta logistics center

The French Louis-Dreyfus global company, involved in agriculture, oil, energy and commodities, has requested to invest in the planned logistics center in Damietta, aimed at transforming Egypt into a global hub for grain storage and trading, with a volume of up to 65 million tons per year.

The statement came on Thursday during a meeting between Supply Minister Khaled Hanafy and James Wilde, the company's Regional Director for the Middle East and Africa.

Wilde said the company wishes to build wheat storage silos in the center, adding that Egypt's geographical location and trade agreements make it a key hub for international trade, especially once the new Suez Canal is completed.
