Fourteen people were killed and two others injured in a collision south of Minya between a truck and a microbus. The accident was caused by a mixture of fog and excessive speeds.
The injured and bodies of victims have been transferred to a hospital.
A government study issued about three years ago by the Egyptian Cabinet Information and Decision Support Center said crashes in Egypt have reached a dangerously high level, surpassing rates of most other countries.
