Former president provides judicial authorities with final financial statement

Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has provided his final financial statement to the concerned judicial authorities, according to judicial sources.

“Former president Hosni Mubarak has submitted his final financial statement to the concerned judicial bodies according to the law," said a legal representative to Mubarak quoted by the official Middle East News Agency (MENA).

The legal representative added that Mubarak had met his commitment to submit previous financial statements in a timely manner.

He went on to deny reports by some Egyptian and foreign media regarding the size of Mubarak's accumulated wealth and the former president's alleged assets and property abroad. The reports had claimed Mubarak had amassed enormous wealth while in office.

"Ill-intentioned rumors related to the size of his fortune, or about his having assets or possessions overseas, have no basis in fact ," the representative was quoted as saying, adding that the rumors were aimed at "damaging Mubarak's reputation and financial integrity."
