Security services arrested former Menoufia governor Ahmed Shaarawy on Saturday in a building located in 10th of Ramadan city in Sharqiya governorate, Ikhwanonline website reported.
He was then transferred to a police station.
Shaarawy was appointed as governor of Menoufia during the last governor reshuffle by deposed President Mohamed Morsy. He was head of the canal sector at the Arab Contractors company.
