The Supreme Judiciary Council’s disciplinary board postponed on Monday the trial of Zakariya Abdel Aziz, former chief of the Judges Club, to September 5, until the contents of the state security's cameras are checked.
Abdel Aziz faces charges of political engagement and inciting an attack on the state security in Nasr City, during the January 25 revolution. In Egypt, judges are barred from political involvement outside their profession in order to maintain neutrality in their position.
The board decided to adjourn the trial as the Interior Ministry did not hand over the contents of the cameras in accordance with the defense's request.
During the session, which was the seventh in the trial, the defense demanded that the lawsuit include the fact that several other public figures and activists were accused of breaking into the headquarters and a judge took part in the June 30 revolution.
