Former Egyptian president submits end-of-service financial statement

In a press statement on Tuesday, head of Egypt's Illicit Gains Authority Mohamed Assem al-Gohari said that former president Hosni Mubarak had submitted his end-of-service financial statement.

Al-Gohari also said that no government official would escape punishment if found guilty of stealing public funds. He called on Egyptian citizens to "be patient" and wait until authorities had completed investigations.

He also called on anyone who possessed documents proving public fund violations by officials to submit them to investigators.

Attorney-General Abdel Meguid Mahmoud on Monday instructed Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit to request that judicial authorities in several countries–including France, the UK, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, the US, Canada, Australia and the United Arab Emirates–to freeze the financial assets of Mubarak and his immediate family.
