South Cairo Criminal Court cleared on Wednesday former Muslim Brotherhood Supreme Guide Mohamed Mahdi Akef of charges of insulting the judiciary.
Several judicial figures had earlier filed reports against Akef as he made remarks during an interview with a Kuwaiti newspaper, which they considered as offense against judiciary and judges as well as accusations of corruption.
However, Akef denied during investigations making the remarks and then said he made them to Cairo University graduates and that he was surprised to find them published at the Kuwaiti newspaper. According to judicial source, Akef added that the newspaper did not take permission before publishing.
