Forensic medicine department says unnotified about deaths in Cairo during clashes

Despite reports of a student killed during clashes on Friday, the body of the victim has yet to be transferred to Zeinhom morgue, according to Hesham Abdel Hamid, spokesperson of the Department of Forensic Medicine.

An informed source from Cairo Security Department said earlier that the student indentified as Belal Sayyed Ali was killed during the Nasr City clashes that took place between Muslim Brotherhood and police on Friday.

A source from the department said Ali was shot after security troops intervened to free a prison truck that was seized by the group members, who were trying to smuggle prisoners in it, insinuating the young man was somehow involved.

Unconfirmed photos circulated on Facebook show the student Ali lying on the ground with a white-uniformed police officer holding a shotgun and walking away from the body.

Khaled al-Khateeb, head of the Health Ministry’s emergency department, also announced one person died on heart attack in Sharqiya, other eight were injured during Friday clashes, adding that no one was killed due to protests in Cairo.
