889 foreigners worked in public sector in 2016: CAPMAS

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced the rise of the number of foreign workers in the public sector in 2016 to reach 889 foreigners, compared to 850 foreigners in 2015.

The agency attributed the rise to the stability of the situation in the country.

CAPMAS said on Wednesday that 53.5 percent of the total foreign workers are from European countries, which is equal to 476 foreigners, followed by non-Arab Asian countries with 17 percent, which equals 151 foreigners.

The number of foreign workers with a university qualification is the largest, standing at 515 foreigners, which comes to 57.9 percent.

Specialists and scientific professionals represented the largest number with 535 foreigners, which equals 60.2 percent, followed by 190 foreign directors, equal to 21.4 percent.
