Foreign tourists among 220 fleeing fire on Nile cruise ship near Luxor

A fire broke out on a tourist cruise ship in the town and city center of Esna, south of Luxor. All 220 passengers, including tourists, were evacuated without any injuries or loss of life.

The vessel was en route to Aswan governorate in the Asghoun area of Esna Center.

Luxor’s Director of Security, Mohamed al-Sawy, received a notification from the Luxor Security Directorate Operations Room reporting an emergency call about a limited fire erupting in the kitchen of the floating tourist hotel on the Nile River.

The captain of the ship successfully controlled the vessel’s movement, docking at an unofficial berth near Waborat Al-Mata’na in Esna.

All foreign tourists of various nationalities were safely disembarked without any injuries or fatalities.

Following the evacuation, the fire completely engulfed the floating hotel.

A police report was filed regarding the incident, and the Public Prosecution Office was notified to begin investigations under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor of Luxor’s Prosecution Offices.
