Minister of Antiquities Mohamed Ibrahim has asked the Foreign Ministry to stop the sale of eight antique wooden panels stored at Bonhams Auctioneers in London to be offered for sale.
The wooden panels were proven to have been stolen from the Abbasid Caliphs Dome in the Sayeda Nafisa district. They date back to in 1243 AD.
Ali Ahmed, director of the Recovered Antiquities Department, said an Egyptian woman living in London reported the incident.
Law No. 117 of 1983 prohibits the trafficking of cultural property of countries of civilizations.
The Interpol was also informed of the incident.
