Fifty Egyptian embassies abroad sent vote counts from the run-off elections to the Foreign Ministry, ministry spokesperson Amr Roshdy said Tuesday.
Roshdy told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the ministry is sending the results of the vote counts to the High Elections Commission (HEC) as they arrive.
The embassies in Washington, Paris, Athens, Amman and Manama are among those that sent results so far, Roshdy said.
The turnout in run-off elections so far has been lower than that of the first two days of voting, he added.
Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr has ordered nine Egyptian consulates to open polling centers, in addition to those already set up at embassies, for voting in the second and third phases of the elections, Roshdy continued.
Egyptian expatriates will be able to vote in the second phase of elections until 12 December, Roshdy said.
He also said that the decision to set up polling stations in consulates was made in coordination with the HEC to maximize expat participation in the elections.
Additional polling stations will be set up in Jeddah, Dubai, Los Angeles, Houston, Sydney, Melbourne, Marseille, Milan and Montreal, homes to some of the largest Egyptian communities abroad.
Roshdy added that Egyptians abroad can either mail their votes to these new polling centers or submit their ballots in person.
