Foreign Ministry spokesperson Badr Abdel Atti said on Tuesday that the Egyptian embassy in Tripoli is maintaining communication with the Libyan authorities and tribal elders to search for the Egyptians who were lost in the Libyan desert near Tobruk.
“Libyan helicopters are hovering over the area in search of survivors,” he said, adding that the embassy made sure the one Egyptian that was found was safe.
The survivor, Bashar Abdel Samie Hassan from Minya, identified the bodies of the other two that were found and said they had died of thirst.
The search is taking place in the Jaghbub area near the Siwa Oasis, 350 kilometers south of the Egyptian-Libyan border.
