Dense fog has led to the closure of Cairo and Alexandria airports today for the fourth day, after visibility was reduced to less then 20 meters. Planes were diverted, leading to delays and congestion.
Sources said fog prevented landings due to the fear of crashes, which also led to the delay of luggage being moved from onboard many planes. Planes resumed taking off and landing at Cairo Airport after a stop for five hours.
Delays are expected to disrupt all flights within the upcoming 20 hours until visibility has improved.
