FM warns against military escalation in Gaza, rejects attempts to displace Palestinians

Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Minister Badr Abdelatty on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, warned of the dangers of expanding military operations in Gaza and reaffirmed Egypt’s rejection of any attempt to displace Palestinians from their land.

In a phone call with Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, Abdelatty stressed the need to establish an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders in line with international resolutions.

He briefed his Italian counterpart on ongoing Egyptian and Qatari efforts to reach a ceasefire, ensure humanitarian aid access to Gaza, and alleviate the suffering of civilians amid Israel’s ongoing violations.

Abdelatty warned that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is worsening rapidly, with famine-like conditions that require urgent international intervention to stop the Israeli offensive.

The two ministers also discussed developments in the Iranian nuclear file. Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s diplomatic contacts aimed at resuming talks between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and stressed the importance of creating conditions for dialogue and compromise.

He said Egypt seeks a sustainable settlement that considers the interests of all parties and supports regional peace and stability.
