Foreign Minister Sameh Shokry arrived on Monday at the Kenyan Capital of Nairobi for a three-day visit during which he will head an Egyptian delegation in the sixth session of the joint committee to convene today.
Shokry will start a series of talks with Kenyan officials including Kenyan counterpart Amina Mohamed and the minister of environment, water and natural resources.
After meeting up with the two ministers, Shokry will deliver medical aid shipments provided by the Egyptian Partnership Agency for Development to Kenyatta National Hospital in attendance of the Kenyan health minister, said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Badr Abdel Aaty.
According to Abdel Aaty, the Kenyan foreign minister will hold bilateral talks with Shokry and Egyptian Trade and Industry Minister Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour in attendance of the two countries’ delegations participating in the joint committee.
Shokry will promote Egypt as a candidate for the UN Security Council non-permanent seat for the year 2016-2017, Abdel Aaty said. He will also meet with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme’s executive chief as well as chief of the UN headquarters in Nairobi.
Shokry’s visit to Nairobi coincides with holding of the joint Egyptian-Kenyan business forum where more than 50 Egyptian businessmen and representatives of 13 companies working in field of engineering industries, Abdel Aaty added. The minister will also talk to the Kenyan media.
The visit targets tackling several issues of common interests as well as methods to develop bilateral ties at trade, economic and political fields.
