FM reaffirms Egypt’s support for UN development efforts in Middle East

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said that Egypt is committed to supporting the United Nations’ efforts to promote sustainable development in the Middle East amid ongoing political, economic, and social challenges.

He noted that Egypt is a main partner of the UN Development Program (UNDP) and continues to work on strengthening cooperation and knowledge exchange among developing countries.

These remarks came during Abdelatty’s meeting with Abdallah Al Dardari, UN Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States, to discuss ways to expand cooperation and preparations for the upcoming international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, to be hosted by Egypt in November.

He expressed appreciation for UNDP’s role in supporting Egypt’s national development agenda and said the government looks forward to further cooperation in job creation, investment attraction, and production growth in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The minister reviewed ongoing preparations for the Gaza conference, affirming that Egypt welcomes strong participation from UN agencies to help launch early recovery projects and ease the humanitarian situation in the Strip. MENA
