
CAIRO, Feb. 11 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty praised the role played by the British University in Egypt (BUE) in preparing qualified cadres capable of effectively contributing to serving Egyptian society for more than twenty years.
He described the university as one of the leading models in supporting higher education and scientific research in Egypt, as well as promoting cultural and intellectual dialogue.
This came during the minister’s meeting with Prof. Dr. Mohamed Lotfy, member of the Senate’s Foreign, Arab and African Affairs Committee and President of the British University in Egypt, as part of ongoing engagement with academic and intellectual institutions and support for their role in advancing Egypt’s foreign policy priorities.
The meeting addressed the pivotal role played by universities and educational institutions in building awareness, particularly through academic and cultural exchange and cooperation with international partners.
Minister Abdelatty emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships between academic institutions and government bodies as a key pillar for building a future based on knowledge and innovation, in a way that supports Egypt’s national priorities and objectives.
The meeting also reviewed areas of existing cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the British University in Egypt in training and capacity-building for African cadres, within the framework of programs implemented by the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development.
This reflects Egypt’s commitment to supporting national capacities in sister African countries, promoting South–South cooperation, and consolidating Egypt’s leading role in development and human capacity-building across the African continent, he said, adding cooperation in training on human rights topics was also discussed within the framework of the Human Rights Studies and Training Center at the British University in Egypt.
Minister Abdelatty affirmed the commitment to promoting a culture of human rights and strengthening institutional capacities in this field, in line with the National Human Rights Strategy, enhancing the exchange of expertise and knowledge, and supporting national and regional cadres concerned with these issues.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Badr Abdelatty stressed the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and national academic institutions, in a way that enhances Egypt’s soft power, reinforces its regional and international role, and supports the state’s efforts in education and development.
