FM participates in AL meeting to discuss regional military escalation, Iranian aggression

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty took part in a virtual extraordinary session of the Council of the Arab League at the ministerial level, chaired by the UAE, to discuss the military escalation in the region and attacks targeting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Arab states following Iranian strikes.

During the meeting, Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s full solidarity with the Gulf states, Jordan and Iraq in confronting what he described as Iranian attacks.

He stressed Egypt’s firm condemnation and complete rejection of these assaults and any justifications used to defend them.

The foreign minister emphasized the importance of prioritizing dialogue and diplomatic channels to de-escalate military tensions, warning of the seriousness of the current situation and the need to avoid the region sliding into further escalation and widespread instability.

Abdelatty also underscored the importance of activating the concept of Arab national security to safeguard the security and sovereignty of Arab states.

He highlighted the need to strengthen frameworks of joint Arab cooperation to effectively address existing threats, including the possible formation of a joint Arab force.
