FM off to Washington for talks with senior US officials

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry left for Washington Tuesday for talks with House and Senate members.

During his visit, Shoukry is also scheduled to meet with heads of Congress committees concerned with the US foreign policy with the aim to boost strategic relations between Egypt and the US, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.

Shoukry will also hold talks with representatives of some American research centers, Abu Zeid added.

On Thursday, the foreign minister will join an Arab-Islamic ministerial delegation in meetings with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Congress members in an effort to halt the war going on in the Gaza Strip, the spokesman said.
