Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul-Gheit and general intelligence chief Omar Suleiman will lead an official delegation to the Sudanese cities of Khartoum and Juba on Thursday.
While in Sudan, the two men are expected to hold talks with senior Sudanese officials, including Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and President of the Government of Southern Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit.
According to a Foreign Ministry source, members of the Egyptian delegation hope to bring Sudan's two main governing forces closer together in advance of a popular referendum on the independence of southern Sudan from the north slated for January of next year.
Delegation members also plan to discuss ways of enhancing bilateral relations and advancing the two countries' common interests.
