FM greets Pope Tawadros II on Xmas

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty paid a visit on Monday, January, 6, 2026, to the headquarters of the St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Abbassiya, where he met with Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, to offer greetings on the occasion of Christmas.

Abdelatty wished Egypt and its people would continue to enjoy love, peace, security, and stability.

During the meeting, Abdelatty affirmed the Egyptian state’s appreciation of the deeply rooted national role played by the Coptic Orthodox Church under the leadership of Pope Tawadros II in supporting the values of national unity and promoting the culture of citizenship.

He stressed that the church constitutes one of the fundamental pillars of the Egyptian national fabric.

He emphasized that this unique cohesion represents the main foundation for the state’s advance toward a prosperous future and the achievement of comprehensive development for all its citizens.

The minister also commended the spiritual, social, and humanitarian contributions of the Coptic Orthodox Church throughout history, noting that religious feasts remain a renewed opportunity to consolidate the meanings of solidarity and fraternity among all members of the Egyptian people.

Minister Abdelatty discussed with Pope Tawadros II the efforts undertaken by the Ministry in the framework of caring for Egyptians abroad and its continued keenness to strengthen channels of communication with them, praising the pivotal role played by Egyptian churches abroad as national beacons that help connect expatriate communities with their homeland.

He stressed the continued provision of all necessary consular support through Egypt’s diplomatic and consular missions, contributing to strengthening expatriates’ ties with Egypt and safeguarding their interests and welfare in various countries around the world.
