Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received Saturday a phone call from Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, to consult and coordinate on the current developments in Sudan, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said in a statement.
Shoukry briefed the EU official on Egypt’s efforts to halt the ongoing violence, as well as its call on all parties to exercise restraint and put an end to armed confrontations to avoid bloodshed and preserve the capabilities of the brotherly Sudanese people.
Borrell emphasized the European Union’s support for Egypt in these efforts, as well as its eagerness to cooperate with Cairo in the coming months to put an end to the current military operations in Sudan and avoid further worsening in the security situation.
