CAIRO/NEW YORK, Sept 26 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty condemned in the strongest terms the war on Gaza, which has led to the loss of innocent lives, widespread destruction and instability in the region, let alone its repercussions on security of international navigation routes.
This came during the minister’s participation Thursday in a meeting of BRICS Foreign Ministers, held on the sidelines of the high-level segment meetings of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
In his speech during the meeting, the foreign minister referred to challenges currently facing the countries of the bloc, including geopolitical tensions, threats to peace and security, economic crises, high debt rates, climate change, and crises in the Middle East and the Arab region.
He stressed Egypt’s demand for an immediate ceasefire and Israel’s commitment to international humanitarian law, and guaranteeing the protection of civilians, in line with its responsibilities as an occupying power, stressing the need for an unhindered access of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.(MENA)
