FM: Arab consensus on supporting Palestine and establishment of the state

The ambassadors of Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE in the US agreed on holding a series of meetings with senior officials at the US administration.

This came as part of following up on the meeting, which was held in Cairo on February 1 between the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Jordan, and Egypt, as well as Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Secretary General of the Arab League.

A joint statement was issued in which the attendees emphasized the importance of the establishment of a Palestinian state on its entire national territory, with the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, unified in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the June 4, 1967 lines.

As part of these efforts, the ambassadors of Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the deputies ambassadors of the UAE, and Qatar met Monday with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Arabian Gulf Affairs in the Near East Bureau at the US Department of State Timothy Lenderking.

During the meeting, the ambassadors handed over a verbal message – on behalf of the foreign ministers of their countries and the Palestinian authority – to US Secretary General Marco Rubio.

In the message, they affirmed the importance of the strategic ties binding the Arab countries and the US.
