CAIRO, Dec 16 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty Tuesday underscored the importance of ensuring the sustainability of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip as well as carrying out the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s plan.
Abdelatty made the remarks during a phone call with Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, within the framework of ongoing coordination between the two countries with the aim of boosting bilateral relations and exchanging views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
During the phone call, Abdelatty expressed appreciation for the remarkable development in Egyptian-Hungarian relations in recent years, noting that this progress reflects the shared political will of both countries’ leaderships to advance bilateral cooperation.
Abdelatty stressed Egypt’s commitment to building on this positive momentum by promoting economic, commercial and investment cooperation, along with encouraging more partnerships between the private sector institutions in both countries to achieve mutual interests and support development goals.
He also highlighted the importance of continued coordination and consultation between the two nations in multilateral forums, emphasizing that mutual support on shared issues reflects the depth of their partnership and contributes to regional and international stability.
Addressing developments in the Gaza Strip, Abdelatty stressed the necessity of full implementation of Security Council Resolution 2803., accelerating the deployment of an Interim International Stabilization Force to monitor the ceasefire, protect civilians, and create a secure environment in the Strip.
The top Egyptian diplomat urged an unimpeded access for necessary quantities of humanitarian aid into the strip, along with supporting early recovery and reconstruction efforts to improve the living conditions for Palestinians.
These measures would pave the way for the Palestinian authority’s return to assume its duties in Gaza, within an integrated vision that preserves the unity of Palestinian territory and supports a political track toward a just and comprehensive peace in accordance with international references, Abdelatty stated.
