Five people from one family were killed and two others were injured on Tuesday in a collision on an Upper Egypt highway in Minya.
According to police communication, the family, hailing from Assiut governorate, was traveling in a microbus on its way to Cairo Airport to travel to Bahrain. The microbus then collided with a private car, killing five family members and injuring two other people.
Only a 3-year-old family member and the driver of the private car survived the accident.
Both were mildly injured and transferred to Minya General Hospital.
According to investigation, the deceased are Salma Mahmoud Kamel, 4, her mother Dalia Ahmed Abdel Hafez, 30, husband Mahmoud Kamel, 40, who works a teacher, Waleed Ahmed Abdel Hafiz, 35, and the the microbus driver Mahmoud Abdel Hafeez Mohamed, 35.
The bodies were transferred to Minya General Hospital’s morgue under the supervision of public prosecutors.
The injured are private car driver Captain Hussein A, 31, from the New Valley Security Directorate, and 3-year-old Baraa Mahmoud Kamel.
According to a medical report prepared by doctor Hany Eshak from Minya Health Department, the causes of death were fractures of the skull and facial bones, bleeding in the brain, severe respiratory failure, broken ribs, and internal bleeding in the abdomen and pelvis.
No criminal suspicions were behind the deaths, the report said.
