Five people jailed for robbing Uzbekistan’s Embassy adviser

The Giza Criminal Court sentenced 5 defendants, including a woman, to lifetime imprisonment on Thursday, for an armed robbery of the apartment of the political adviser to Egypt’s Embassy of Uzbekistan.

Prosecutors of North Giza had earlier charged the suspects with armed robbery and possession of weapons.

The five were accused of stealing valuable items from the diplomat and his wife at gun point.

The defendants reportedly began by knocking on the diplomat’s door. When he and his wife answered, the five allegedly raised their knives and firearms against the two victims, beating and injuring them before proceeding to rob the apartment.
