Five earthquakes shook several regions in Ethiopia within a span of less than four hours late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center.
The earthquake monitoring center revealed the full details of these earthquakes in Ethiopia and their magnitudes:
- First earthquake
- An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale hit an area 100 kilometers from Metehara in central Ethiopia at 9:56 PM on Wednesday.
- Second earthquake
- An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale struck an area 28 kilometers from the city of Abomsa in central Ethiopia at 12:35 am – the first minutes of Thursday morning.
- Third earthquake
- An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck 23 kilometers north of Awash in Ethiopia, at a depth of 10 kilometers below the Earth’s surface, at exactly 1:07 am on Thursday morning, according to the US Geological Survey.
- Fourth earthquake
- An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale struck an area 36 kilometers from Abomsa in Ethiopia at 1:45 am on Thursday morning.
- Fifth earthquake
- An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale struck near the city of Metehara, central Ethiopia, at a depth of 10 kilometers, at exactly 1:17 am on Thursday morning.
