On Wednesday, fourteen local and foreign consulting firms will begin submitting request for proposals for the Suez Canal axis development project. The eligible companies will have 15 days to do so, with a deadline set for 23 January.
The governmental committee, headed by Mohab Mamish, Suez Canal Authority chief, will supervise the project. It has selected 14 local and foreign consulting offices out of 46 and has asked them to submit RFPs.
The committee will draft legislation related to the project in three months. The project's plan will then be reviewed by the cabinet in nine months for final approval.
A government source said that all international companies expressed desire to contribute in projects that will be planned around the Suez Canal region.
The source added that the projects include developing harbors overlooking the Suez Canal, factories, logistics, tourist areas and exports.
