Firefighters extinguished a blaze that erupted while a vessel at Alexandria seaport was being unloaded late Wednesday.
An official at the port said firefighting boats responded to the scene, putting out the flames before they reached ships moored nearby.
"Navigtion activities were not affected," the official added.
He also said initial investigations indicated oil used by some vessels docked at the port might have caused the fire, but neither the cause nor the extent of losses has been officially determined.
