Ferry sinks in Monufiya, killing 4

Rescue workers have recovered four bodies from the area where a ferry sank in the Nile on Thursday evening.

The ferry capsized near a village in Monufiya Governorate.

Monufiya Governor Ashraf Helal projected that seven people died in the accident, adding that authorities were able to rescue three passengers.

Helal said that the accident was caused by the ferry being overloaded.

It is common for ferries to sink in Egypt, especially as the ferries that link the banks of the Nile are generally outdated and lack safety measures.
