The National Council for Women staged on Sunday a women's march to condemn violence against women and enforce articles on women in laws and constitution.
The march was staged in collaboration with NGOs and 80 female school students in Minya.
It started from outside the Public Library on Corniche street and reached until the governorate building.
Participants raised banners condemning all types of violence against women whether through battery, insults, physical or moral assault.
Nagah al-Tallawy, rapporteur of the council in Minya, who supervised the rally and conference on confronting violence against women, said the laws in place needed to be enforced, pointing out that the law on inheritance recently came into effect.
Tallawy addedd that a conference to be held on Sunday at the governorate building, will offer recommendations on ending violence against women and voice demands for enforcing laws that protect them from violence.
