Member of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC) and Chairman of the Egyptian Gas Association Khaled Abu Bakr on Thursday 9/1/2025 said that Egypt has become a regional and strategic hub for gas and energy trading and exportation in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
“Egypt is linked to Greece and Cyprus through numerous forums and partnerships, such as the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF), which assists the Mediterranean countries in producing gas and attracting investments of global companies,” Abu Bakra said in an interview with Egypt’s Nile News channel on Thursday.
He highlighted aspects of joint cooperation between the three countries in the domain of renewable energy, adding that several renewable energy projects are being examined.
Abu Bakr said that these projects would utilize Egypt’s modern undersea cables to transmit energy to Cyprus and then to Greece and the European Union, thus having significant strategic impact on European countries.
