Fayoum Governor Mahmoud Gad has said that he is transfering to public use those buildings in Fayoum previously used by the National Democratic Party (NDP), and that their contents are being catalogued with a view to using them for the benefit of the public.
Gad also said that new governorate signs will be hung on former NDP buildings.
The Supreme Administrative Court last month issued an order dissolving the NDP, saying its headquarters were now owned by the state.
Originally established by deceased President Anwar al-Sadat, the NDP owned two headquarters in each of Egypt's 28 governorates. Most were nationalized after the 1952 revolution and were then owned by the Socialist Union Party before being acquired by the NDP.
