Tuesday sees the official launch of "House of Egypt" and the unveiling of the group's first joint product. The festive launch will take place from 6 to 10 PM at Amuse Store in Zamalek.
"House of Egypt" includes eight of the best and the most renowned Egyptian fashion designers such as Amima K, Malak al-Ezzawy, El-Horreya, Nana’s Closet, Nuniz, Rimal, Tasmeem: Design for Life, and Aya Textiles.
House of Egypt is a long-term cooperation between a numbers of talents who participated in the Ministry of Commerce initiative for young designers. “We are eight designers now but there is room for more to join later,” says Aya Akel of Aya Textiles. The event is just a beginning and more will follow later. “We want to go international,” adds the young designer.
House of Egypt has created a surprise product that will be unveiled tomorrow and the sales of this product will be donated to charity. “A large quantity of the new product will be available, and almost 40 percent [LE100] of the price [LE280] will be donated,” says Malak al-Ezzawy.
The product will be available at Amuse for eight weeks. “Some designers will also launch their new collections. Aya Textiles will present its new vintage line in addition to a new collection of baby bibs that has the logo 'Ana Masry' or 'Ana Masreya' (I’m Egyptian).
Other designers will present their best sellers. “I am launching al-Mahroosa Masr Part 2, which is a collection of racer pack and t-shirts with patriotic logos embroidered on them,” says al-Ezzawy. The chic tops feature lace and beading too, a Malak el-Ezzawy signature.
Amina K will also be showcasing her Egypt collection. “I will feature t-shirts and shirts for my new Egypt collection,” says the prominent designer. Amina K will have some of her last summer's collection items on display.
House of Egypt is just the beginning of many more events planned by this young and upcoming group of designers.
