
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly welcomed Director-General of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Qu Dongyu on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the cabinet headquarters in the New Capital.
The reception was held for handing over the FAO’s “Agricola Medal,” the highest award of the organization, to the premier, on behalf of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. The reception ceremony was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriate Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouq, and respective officials.
Madbouli conveyed President Sisi’s appreciation for receiving the award and stressed Egypt’s commitment to supporting cooperation with the organization.For his part, Qu affirmed his keenness to enhance cooperation with Egypt in the coming period.
He explained that awarding the medal to President Sisi comes in recognition of his efforts in supporting food security issues and combating hunger, in addition to providing humanitarian support to neighboring countries suffering from acute crises.
Qu noted that the Agricola Medal is the highest honor Qu by the FAO upon leaders, monarchs, and heads of state for their efforts in supporting the organization’s goals.
