About 60 family members of Egyptians being detained in Libya forced their way into the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday morning, demanding authorities help release their family members.
Staging a sit-in on the ministry's yard, the protesters said they will not leave until they can meet with Foreign Affairs Minister Nabil al-Arabi to demand immediate action and a timetable for deporting the detainees.
Some demonstrators tried to reach Arabi's office, but they were held back by security agents, leading to some minor hand fights.
On 28 April, Egypt's Minister of Manpower and Immigration Ahmed Hassan al-Borai said 450,000 Egyptians have returned from Libya after fleeing the unrest.
Some of those returning said that forces loyal to Qadhafi had targeted them and forced them to make aired confessions about instigating the uprising.
About a million Egyptians had worked in Libya prior to the uprising against Libyan leader Muammar Qadhafi, which began in February.
