Dozens of families of Egyptians detained in Saudi Arabia organized a protest on Sunday outside the Saudi Embassy in Cairo to demand the release of their relatives from prison. The Egyptians have been detained for up to eight years in some cases, with no charges being brought against them.
“This is the fifth complaint to the Saudi ambassador in Cairo sent by the families of 35 Egyptians who have been detained in Saudi prisons, but to no avail,” said Appeals Lawyer Mamdouh Ismail.
Ismail went on to say that he had met with the Saudi ambassador over a month ago, who told him he would reply within two weeks, but he had yet to receive an answer.
