The 6th of October Misdemeanor Court on Wednesday sentenced Hamdi Fakharani to four years in prison and fined him LE100,000.
Fakharani was convicted of receiving a bribe of LE1 million from Samuel Zaki, a businessman in Minya, for him to use his influence and make the government drop a lawsuit against Zaki over a land lot. Fakharani also agreed with Zaki to take another LE4 millions once the deal is done
Fakharani, the head of the Anti-Corruption Association, was arrested in a villa in Sheikh Zayed.
