Factory bus hijacked by armed men in Sinai

A bus transporting 30 factory workers to their workplace in the Sinai Peninsula was hijacked by armed men on Tuesday.

The hijackers reportedly released passengers before stealing the bus.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the bus belonged to a Bedouin tribesman who had a financial altercation with the member of another tribe. The latter, therefore, hijacked the bus to settle the account.

According to eyewitnesses, none of the bus passengers were harmed and all arrived safely to the factory.

Official sources denied the incident had any bearing on recent clashes between Bedouin tribesmen and the Interior Ministry. The  ministry has recently released 157 Bedouin detainees in line with earlier promises by Interior Minister Habib el-Adly to tribal leaders.
