Gamal Allam, head of the Egyptian Football Association, told CBC on Tuesday that coach Bob Bradley would not be dismissed because of a penalty clause of US$300,000 in his contract.
“We had hopes to beat Ghana but the coaching team failed,” he said. “I apologize to the for that.”
“We hoped the team would play in the World Cup after 24 years.
He said the FA will accept Bradley’s resignation and that of his aides if they submit them.
Ghana beat Egypt in Kumasi 6-1 in the decisive round of the African qualifiers for Brazil 2014.
The return leg is on 19 November at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo, where Egypt need to win 5-0.
