The Agriculture Export Council on Tuesday organized a vigil before the Delegation of the European Union to Egypt to protest the EU's ban on Egyptian seed and vegetable exports, which is set to last until 31 October due to suspicion that they may contain E. coli bacteria.
In a statement on Monday, the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce called for a ban on EU agricultural imports. It also threatened to call for a ban on Russian wheat imports for the same reason.
Ambassador of the EU delegation to Egypt Marc Franco said the EU will send a mission to Egypt next week to re-evaluate the situation.
