A shell exploded at an army camp at Assiut’s Daranka on Tuesday, killing a soldier, a worker and injuring over 16 others, state-run Al-Ahram news website reported.
Injured victims have been taken to the Assiut University Hospital. The armed forces have not yet issued a statement on the incident.
State-run Akhbar Al-Youm website named the deceased as 22-year-old army conscript Hussein Hassan and 59-year-old labourer Eddin Mostafa Ahmed.
