Exhibition recounting Red Sea history held in Hurghada

The Free Youth Association has opened a historical exhibition in Hurghada documenting the history of the Red Sea over the past 100 years through hundreds of photographs.
 
Local residents attended the event entitled "The Red Sea: Roots and History – a Message from Grandfather to Grandson" held at the Hurghada Flags Complex.
 
The displayed photos recounted the pilgrimages to al-Qusayr, oil drilling in the Ras Gharib and phosphate mining in Hamrawein and Om al-Howaytat.
 
There were also a number of images from Halayib and Shalateen as wells as pictures of King Farouk during his visit to Hurghada and the beginning of tourism there.
 
Ahmed Abdel Gaber, secretary of the Free Youth Association, also announced the formation of special teams in all cities of the governorate in order to collect the heritage and history for a Red Sea Encyclopedia.
