Except for Arabs, November tourist numbers decline in 2016: CAPMAS

The number of tourists coming from all over the world to Egypt, during the month of November 2016, reached 499,800 tourists, compared to 558,600 tourists during the month of November 2015, recording a decline of 10.5 percent from last year's figure, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) reported Wednesday.

CAPMAS added, in its monthly bulletin on tourism rates for November 2016, that the highest tourist flow came from West European countries, with 32.9 percent of the total number of tourists.

The highest flow for any single country was from Germany with 45.6 percent of the total West European tourists. East European countries came in second with 23.1 percent. The highest flow was from Ukraine with 62.77 percent of the total East European tourists.

Middle Eastern countries ranked third with 22.7 percent of the total tourism inflow. Saudi Arabia ranked first with 31.66 percent.

Tourists from the Americas, Africa, East Asia, the Pacific and South Asia regions, plus other countries, stood at 21.3 percent.

Arab tourists recorded 139,500 visitors in November 2016, compared with 120,400 visitors in November 2015, with an increase of 15.9 percent.

Departing tourists recorded 505,800 people in November 2016, compared to 673,200 in November 2015, with a decline of 24.9 percent.
