The Evangelical church of Egypt has opened the nominations process for the chief and vice-chief positions within the faith. Elections will take place on 20 February.
Andrea Zaki, vice-chief of the sect, told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the Millet Council and the Holy Synod, which are the biggest elected authorities within the sect, will supervise elections until the new chief and vice-chief are chosen.
Candidates began sending in their applications on Wednesday and they have until 13 February to apply.
The two authorities will convene on 13 February to review the names of the candidates, the conditions for candidacy, as well as the documentation submitted. Along with representatives from other evangelical schools, the chief and vice-chief will be selected and declared on the day of elections.
