Filmmaker and producer Marianne Khoury, director of the European Film Panorama Foundation, has said that the sixth Panorama will begin on 27 November until 7 December in three movie theatres for the first time since the launch of the event in 2004.
“Films will be shown in the Plaza Movie Theatre in Sheikh Zayed, Odeon in central Cairo and Galaxy in Manial,” she said. “The films have been carefully selected this year to reach a wider range of audience.”
She explained that the Panorama is divided into six categories, namely European films that have participated in the Venice, Berlin and Canne film festivals, documentaries, first works of young Europeans and Egyptian filmmakers, Education and Cinema, Panorama Classics and short films.
“A restored version of Alan Rene’s classic movie Hiroshima Mon Amour will be shown,” she said. “It was first shown in 1959.”
“Also, the short film The New Woman in Egypt will be shown,” she said. “It is a co-production of Misr International Films and the Palestinian embassy.”
