Minister of Environment Khaled Fahmy said that climatic factors like bad weather cause the air pollution that we feel at this time of the year, stressing that burning waste in the open should be reduced.
He also said that the ministry signed a protocol with the Ministry of Agriculture to benefit from the rice straw.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Aboul Seoud, CEO of the Environmental Affairs Agency, on Friday toured the collection sites of the rice straw in the cities of Mansoura, Aga and Mit Ghamr in Daqahliya, as well as the cities of Mahalla and Tanta in Gharbiya and other cities in Sharqiya to inspect the work of the private sector companies that collect the straw.
He said that farmers were very cooperative in safely disposing of agricultural residues at this time of the year. “We aim to collect 200,000 tons of rice straw,” he said.
