The entry to the area housing the Giza Pyramids is set to become mechanized on Monday, with visitors receiving electronically generated tickets, the general secretary of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities, Mohamed Abdel Fattah, said Sunday.
The new move follows a series of successful experiments in collaboration with technical experts and the Defense Ministry, he added.
Fattah noted that the new system will facilitate visitor entry and better organize the ticketing process. The new tickets will bear pictures of the Pyramids, making them suitable souvenirs.
As part of the new system, blue tickets will be issued to non-Arabs, while red ones will be given to Egyptians and other Arabs.
